1.) What is the strangest talent you have?
I can tickle my children with one finger. I know how to crook it right in their armpit for maximum
impact. Don’t worry, they love it
2.) What is the best Halloween costume you’ve ever worn?
We really don’t do Halloween very well in Australia, but last year I followed my children with a glass of
champagne in my hand while they were trick-or- treating. It was the best Halloween ever!
3.) Are the titles of your books important?
I think titles are as important as the cover of the book. You get 1 millisecond for a potential reader to be
interested in your book. They can just as easily slide the finger to the next book if they find another title
captures their attention just that little bit better.
4.) If you’re struggling with a scene or difficult character, what methods help you through
I usually stop writing and go on to something else. If I’m stuck, usually there’s something wrong with
the scene and I need some distance first. Sometimes I get so stuck, I write a whole other book before I
can go back and see how to fix it. I used to try and push through, now I don’t.
5.) Do you prefer dog, cats or none of the above?
Cats. We have two of them. One of them is a sook and needs to be patted all the time. If he doesn’t get
attention he runs about the place until you have no choice but to pick him up and pat him, then he
dribbles all over you. Noice. Our other cat only goes to my son. He ignores everyone else, even me, who
feeds him all of the time. He’s black and white and reminds me of a panther. Shy and not quite tame.
6.) Who’s your favourite author? Why?
I have lots of favourite authors. Maya Banks. Keri Arthur. The authors from the RWA. I also like
different genres and will consume everything from contemporary romance, paranormal, erotic,
historical, time travel, action, adventure, romantic suspense, murder mystery. I also like non-fiction
books. Never know what you’ll learn.
7.) Do you have a pet peeve?
My mother repeating everything verbatim in two different phone calls on two different days. I have to
listen and pretend she’s told me for the first time otherwise she tells me off! Imagine that!
8.) Do you remember your dreams when you wake up in the morning?
Yes, I do. All the time. In fact, my thriller, ‘The Unforgotten’ – coming soon through Ellora’s Cave, was
a dream in its entirety. Not sure if that’s a good thought or not.
