A man says his friend was ‘very grateful’ when he shot him – and the crocodile attacking him.
Zac Fitzgerald has told how he accidentally shot his mate, Jason Green, while saving him from the clutches of a crocodile.
Mr Green was attacked at the crocodile farm where they worked in Australia.
The croc struck while they were out collecting eggs at Marrakai Station, about 120km east of Darwin.
But Mr Fitzgerald told the Northern Territory News he was just doing his job.
“I just started shooting because he wasn’t getting released,” he said.
It took five shots before the crocdile let go.
Mr Green had surgery for a gunshot wound and bites to his arm, which was broken.
Mr Fitzgerald said his friend had been “very grateful”.
